About the Fed
What we believe

We promote a comprehensive NHS; a wide range of healthcare, that anyone can access and that is free from patient charges. The NHS is a community resource that we all rely on. We share the cost through the tax system and should therefore have a say in how it works. Our society benefits greatly from providing healthcare through a national network that shares and develops its expertise and provides care on the basis of health need, not the ability to pay. We believe in raising awareness about these strengths and involving the community in ways that we can build a better NHS.
What do we do?

Guided by the views of our members we set out campaigning projects to improve access to a comprehensive health service. Through events like public conferences and lobbies of Parliament we create opportunities for the public and NHS staff to develop their views and express them to politicians and policy makers.
We ask organisations to look at our campaign issues and provide them with information to start a discussion with their staff or members. We are active in the debate around the NHS and publish research to raise awareness about the impact of policy. By working with other groups who share our commitment we aim to build a sustainable independent voice, that monitors and contributes to improving our national health service.
