Dear NHS Supporter

Thanks to a chorus of objection from our community the government has “paused” its health plans to “listen” to our concerns. But we must not let-up the pressure. The health bill is fatally flawed. A health system based on profit-driven competition - where commercial companies can limitlessly take over NHS services - will undermine patient care and the values of the NHS. This idea is not backed by evidence and should not be the basis of our health service going forward.

Please help us send this message to the government's listening exercise by writing to the chair of the NHS Future Forum, Professor Steve Field. Below is the opening of a letter we have drafted which uses evidence to support our arguments. Feel free to use this to save you time. You can download it by clicking on the text and then simply add your name and address and email it to nhsfutureforum@dh.gsi.gov.uk, or send it by post to: NHS Modernisation Listening Exercise, Room 605, Richmond House, 79 Whitehall, London SW1A 2NS.

"Dear Professor Field, I would like to submit my views as part of the listening exercise on the Health and Social Care bill. The central idea of the government’s changes is not backed by evidence that it will work..."

It would be very useful if you also sent us and your local MP copies of any responses that you send to the listening exercise. Our address is at the bottom of this email.

Thank you for your support at this crucial time. Any donation you can afford will help us continue our campaign to protect and promote the core principles of our NHS. You'll also find a link below to help you forward this email to any of your family or friends who you feel might want to join our campaign.
