Keep Our NHS Public AGM and public meeting

Saturday 6 June, 11am - 4pm. Caxton House, 129 St John's Way, London N19.

The AGM will run from 11am - 1pm with a public meeting at 2pm - 5pm. Speakers include Mark Serwotka (PCS), John Lister (KONP, Health Emergency), Jonathon Tomlinson (For Patients, Not Profits), Sally Ruane (De Montford University, Leicester).

The day is open, with no charge, to health workers and campaigners to hear speakers from around Europe discuss issues of common concern.

Meeting of London Keep Our NHS Public campaigns

Follow up to London workshop held in October. A chance for London campaigns to share practical experience and discuss building support for the Valentine's Day protests (see below). New KONP newspaper available for collection.

'We Love the NHS' local protests

There is a proposal for local groups to organise on Valentines Day, Sat 14 February 2009. Camden and Haringey groups (see below) are already planning events in those areas. Let us know of any further local protests you may be planning.

Camden Keep Our NHS Public is planning a demonstration on 14 February in solidarity. The group intends to
use a Valentine card as part of the publicity and plans to hand in their petition to the PCT that day and use the march as the next step in the campaign against privatisation of GP practice.

Public meeting - Friends of Levenshulme

Thursday 27 November, 7.30pm. Klondyke Club, Burnage Range, (off Albert Rd), Levenshulme, Manchester, M19

The new GP clinic planned for Levenshulme is one of the first of its kind in the country. Rather than being run by GPs through the NHS, it willl be run by a private company for profit.

Come and hear both sides of the argument and join the debate on local GP care.

Speakers include Dr Kailash Chand (GP and regional representative of the British Medical Association) and prepresentatives from Manchester PCT.
